E36 OBDI reset
I have a 1995 E36 325I with OBDI. The check engine light is on all the time. I have tried the 5 pump gas petal to get the codes but it does not work or go out or flash any codes. I have tried a number of times. I tried to reset the OBDI by holding gas pedal down >10sec but no luck. I also check the throttle position sensor . It seems oke but according to the Bently manual # 3 to ground should be 5VDC but shows 11.6 VDC and #3 shows 6.3 VDC. The ohm meter #1 to# 2 shows 4Kohms to 1.3Kohm and is smooth.
I have printed off your article and have done this before and it worked fine on this car. Any suggestions as to what to try next? Thanks |

Pull both cables off the battery and hold them together for 10 sec to reset everything. That might work or it might allow you then to use the pedal method after the reset.
Better have your radio code.
