Help trying to fix lifter noise ....

96 328i 100,000 5/30 oil

Hello, I am trying to fix lifter noise. Please advise to the best method without tearing the motor apart.

I am about to change the oil. Should I run cleaner through the motor first. Seafoam?

What weight oil should I change to (thicker or thinner). Synthetic help?

Thanks for your advise.

People will suggest thicker oil.

Unless it is exorbitant I'd just live with it.

IF you have reason to believe you have sludge or build up run some B-12 or Marvel Mystery Oil in the oil right before your next change.

I usually don't like thicker oil but a 96 might benefit from a 10w-40. I doubt it reduces the noise though.
