Wheels & offsets etc.
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere in this forum. I am looking for replacement wheels for my '87 325is and have narrowed it down to two options; TSR Kyalami and TSR Sakata 4. The Kyalamis are a direct fit, whereas the Sakata 4 (which I prefer) requires a spacer. Questions;
1. I am being told that a .25" spacer is required only on the front to clear the strut. Won't the difference in track between the front and rear be an issue? 2. Are spacers a bad thing for regular street use? 3. To use a .25" spacer, should I get longer wheel studs? If I do lengthen the studs, will I need to put the original ones back when I revert back to my regular winter wheels? 4. Are all spacers the same? Any other issues? Thanks for any and all contributions. |

1) the difference in track will not be noticed
2) many people use spacers on the street 3a) Does your car have studs or bolts? 1/4" is a good amount so you will probably need longer bolts. The rule is you need about 6 threads to grab. 3b) 1/4" longer bolts when used with stock rims could interfere with the inner hub or hit ABS sensors etc. You can try them and carefully spin the wheel to see if the bolt tip hits or rubs. 4) I've seen some cheap spacers. You want to get a hub centric spacer of good quality.

Thanks
Thanks for the input - you're right about the bolts instead of studs, makes perfect sense.
