Dangers of worn RTABS -- What are they??

As the title states, What are the potential dangers of driving with worn out RTABS??

I'm aware that my rear wheel toe angles will not be set properly and I could possibly screw up my rear tires. I'm also aware that it is possible that the car may not be as stable over bumps in corners or while accelerating.

The reason I ask is that my shop tells me my RTABs are completely separated internally. However, I experience NONE of the typical RTAB symptoms...maybe because I have an M42 and I don't actually have enough torque to "feel" the tell-tale sensation during acceleration

Whatever the case...is my care somehow "unsafe" if I continue to drive on my worn out RTABs?? I'm not interested in paying the shop to do it (4hrs labor), and I don't think it's a job I could tackle myself either.

Thoughts?

Thanks!
Matt

It isn't going to break anything catastrophically.

You will have an unstable reaerend which will most likely be noticed in slippery conditions while turning or accelerating. The worst thing to happen would be fishtailing or spinning during emergency braking or emergency lane change.

The job isnt hard but you need a special tool to do it, particularly during the install. You can fabricate the tool at a hardware store for <$20, I've heard. Then you may need an alignment.
