starter bolts!!!

1993 318i
I have everything off to remove the transmission and it is hanging near the starter . This is something I have been reading about on this board, and I want to know if someone has some good photographs of these things. There was one bolt that I was able to remove from underneath the engine. It had a bolt and nut. I have been unable to find the other starter bolt. I feel around and feel nothing! I understand there are two bolts there.

Also, I have the 2 into2 exaust gasket in between exhaust and manifold, and I broke two of the bolts off. What is the fix for this? Lemme know before 8 central if possible, autozone can still order for me if I let them know by twelve of the clock.

Thanks, mad props to the 101 projects book, it definitely breaks things down better than the hayes manual, but they could have put some better pics of those starter bolts! Please link to some schematics if you have them, that's what I could really use.

Thanks again!

There should be a bolt on either side of the starter(top and bottom, not front and back) . If one was a nut and bolt then the other is too. This sounds like your problem.

Exhaust bolt tend to break. Some people buy stainless steel bolts to replace them rather than the expensive OEM bolts.
