Hi, could anyone please identify this tool and tell me what is its purpose? This is the BMW part number: 71.11-1 093 774. It is a tool about 6 or 7 inches long, about 1/4 inch across and it has a gray plastic piece on one end that is about 2 or 3 inches long and about 1/2 or so diameter. All info would be appreciated. TIA.

It's used to hold the wheel in place while installing the first lug bolt. You either slip the grey into the hub thread and then try to place the wheel over it or you try to place it and the wheel on at the same time. I never had much luck with it.
