I looked at my Bentley Service Manual for instruction on removing the gas tank on my 1990 325I and couldn't find anything. I bottomed out and the tank leaks if it's over 3/4 full. What things should I be careful about when removing the old and installing the new? Any help would be great. Thanks

It straddles the drive shaft so you should have to drop the drive shaft. You also want to get it as empty as possible. you will need to pull the fuel pump and secondary level sending unit.

Well, If it leaks at 3/4 to full then it has to be at the top of the tank where the leak is. First off I would remove the bottom seat cushion from the rear seat by pulling it up. Then under the black pad of sound deadening material there are two flaps . Under the flaps there are two covers under these are the two sending units and the fuel pump. these lids could be loose or be cracked. There is a tech article on how to replace the sending units and the fuel pump on the Pelican Parts tech area. My car would leak at any thing over 3/4 tank full and I found out it was a cracked lid on the drivers side fuel sending unit. I would check this first for your leaks.
