Get the cheaper chrome set and not the Lisle black set. You need a fairly thin wall and the Lisle set is to thick. I don't recall the size but it will surely come in 5-6 piece set. If I had to guess Id say E10 but it could be 8 or 12.

Head Bolt Torx Socket
The proper size is E12. I bought a single 3/8 drive socket from the Snap On man for $10.
Worked great. Also look for two small Torx screws in oil filled holes at the very front of the head on some engines. Last edited by Helrot; 02-19-2008 at 07:08 PM.. |

Thanks for you help . I've got the 101 projects book and its a great help . She's burning about a quart of oil per 2 weeks of in town driving and smokes alot on start up . New Bosch plugs looked OK but sooty after 1000 miles . I saw a puddle of oil on the #6 intake side valves when I removed the intake manifold to replace the hoses and heater valve . Would guess the exhaust side is worse . Any suggestions for rebuilt head sources or watch outs on rebuilt heads/ head vendors ?

I had my rebuilt locally. Find out who your local BMW dealer uses for head rebuilds.
