e-36 runs for a while and just dies

i am having a big problem with my 95 325I. I did the head last year and change the fuel pump september(07). This year I went away for two weeks, when i come back the car won't start. I change the crank and the cam pos. sensor nothing I check to see if I had fuel pressure I did, I swap the computer and the relay nada, I brought it to a mechanic he said that he reset the computer and change the relay to charge me a ton of money, the only thing is now the car start but and run to a period of 10 minutes then dies, if i start it again it will run for another 10 minutes then dies and won't start for the third times til the car cool off. I forgot to mention I change the ICV and the coolant temperature sensor. Can somebody please help me with my problem????

Sounds like after it exceeds the cold start open loop it dies. I"ll have to think on it.

Had the same problem a few months back. It was the air ass meter - right above the air filter. Got a used one for replacemnt and it worked. Might want to check the air intake manifold downstream of the meter as well for cracks.

I still haven't come up with anything, even after a weekend in Vegas and lots of scotch, imagine that.

Does it always die after the same amount of time? Do you drive it for 10 min and it dies while driving or can you just start it and let it idle for 10 min and it dies?

Mass air meter is just behind the air filter housing, before the intake elbow.
It has a round screw out plug. Hard to miss, it's right on top on my 93.
On mine if you unplug it, or forget to plug it back in, ( I just told on myself) it will go into limp home mode, and the check engine light will go on.
It won't quit running, just run a little rough.

Is your check engine light coming on, and have you down loaded the fault codes?

Also, I might mention, I had a similar problem with my 88.

It was a bad ignition switch.

When it starts to shut down try turning the key back and forth just a little.
Or, when it wont start at all, don't let it return all the way back from the start position and see if it tries to fire.

By the way, the best time to try and diagnose the problem is when it won't run at all.
Much easier to find.

IT is both , it like when the car warm up it just dies driving or not drivin, I also did a test, the fuel pump stop running every time the car is going to die. I check the current in the fuel pump fuse, before the car dies, the current shut off in the fuse and when the car dies, the current flows back that is very weird. when i try to do the code I got 1000
