Hood doesn't stay up? How to fix...

Hi,
I was looking under my hood today and it apparently doesn't stay up anymore. I believe it works on hydraullics or something? Is this a common problem? How can I get the hood to stay there without me holding on to it. Any help would be appreciated. I have a 1998 328is. Thanks.

Your hood struts/shocks are worn out.

Very easy to replace. It's pretty easy to tell which one. Might just want to replace both but they arent very cheap.

That's about what I thought they were. I dont think $25 is cheap, you can get a full size shock absorber for that.

I paid about $11, 4 years ago which seemed like a fair price.
