Thinking about an M3...
I've been a Porsche guy for a about four years now...(944 and 911).
I currently have a 83 911SC and a 97 Saab 900SE (beater/daily driver). I've just recently bought a new house and have not had the time I used to for working on my 911SC. And as a result do not get to drive it much. I'm starting to think that maybe I need to sell my 911SC and get a car I can drive everyday and enjoy. My first thought was an early 90's 911 (964), but I need to be able to fit a car seat in the back since I'd be getting rid of the Saab too. So my next sensible option I think would be an M3. But I've never driven one and don't know much about them. I'd probably be looking at the 97 - 99 year with the 3.2L. Can anyone give me some advice on these cars. Also, I currently autocross the 911SC. So I'm thinking the M3 would work as a good autocross car too? Thanks.

Works great for both. Get a 97-98 with 4 doors. I did the exact same thing when my kids were in car seats and I still have the car.
There are lots of mods available and you will probably want at least X-brace($115), camber plates (Vorshlag) and an extra set of rims. Then springs and eventually front sway (UUC etc) and front brace (Vorshlag).
