325i Temperature problem

i have a problem with my bmw 3251 1992. the temperature gauge needle goes almost to the red zone as i start, then for about a minute it touches the red zone but it does not light. i run it for about 20 minutes it it does not overheat the engine. i replaced the temperature sensor attached to the side of the radiator but it does not solved the problem. can somebody help me. i appreciate.. thank you.

You need to post this as a new topic or not very many people will see it.
Look at the top right of the page and click on post new topic.
It could be a bad connection in the wiring harnes or a bad gauge.
If you pull the instrument cluster and pull the plug, then you will need to know the appropriate pins to check with a digital OHM meter. This will tell you if you are getting a good signal to the gauge.
Start this thread as a new topic, and in the meantime I will try to find the information you need.

I moved the question to its own thread.

Does it always stay in the red or does it move back to center when you drive or rev the engine? Could be air in the system.

Does it go to read as soon as the key is switched to ON? Could be the sensor.

The temp sensor on the radiator is for the fans not the gauge. The gauge sensor is on the head under the intake manifold.
