noisey e36
hi peeps
when i fist start my bmw 316 up its sounds ok but when running the engine as a rattle like tappets noise and runs realy slugish a bit kangarooy until the engine warms up then it runs fine and no noise what could be causing this |

Does the sluggishness correspond with the air pump running? It sounds like a blow drier and only runs on cold starts for about 1 minute.
Some lifter noise is common on start up and should become quiet when the engine warms and has been run at medium RPM for a minute or two. Another possibility is the chain tensioner. Determining where exactly the noise is coming from is best done with a mechanics stethoscope.

what do mean buy the air pump ?
the car seems to get to temp invery qwick eg with 0.3 miles |

The air pump is an emmissions device. The 316 is a euro model right? You probably dont have an air pump.
