What year? is it an E30 or E36, 325 covers a lot of cars, E30 has a fuel pump under the car,
E36 has a fuel pump in the tank.

If it is a 94 it's an E36. It has one pump under the passenger side back seat.
Have you taken it out and inspected it?
It can be soldered, as a matter of fact, the pump can be replaced without replacing the fuel sending unit assembly, but you have to solder it in.
I did it in my car.
You can test the pump without removing it.
Do a forum search, just type in fuel pump, you will find all sorts of info on fuel pump problems.
Unfortunatly, a very common, and popular subject.

Garage
Talking driver and passenger is confusing if you have a RHDrive car.

On the Right side, fuel filler side, is the pump. It's has two connectors, one for the pump power and one for the level sender. The Left side just has the sender. The sender can be tested for resistance to prove it is measuring the fuel level.

The problem I have seem in the pump only gets power for a short time when the key is switched on then nothing until the engine starts.
