Catalytic converters
Hi, I just purchased a 89 325i auto trans, it needs a new cat, I've found that the universal fit is way less $$$ than the direct fit. Now can the average home mechanic put the universal fit cat on or should I stay with the direct fit, the rest of the exhaust is in good stock condition, thanks.

I'd get the universal and have an exhaust shop weld it in. Better yet, go to the exhaust shop and buy the parts and job from them and get a warranty.
