water leak

i have a 92 325i the m50 motor 6 cylinder and have a water leak out the back and found a green plug lying on my transmission, here is a pic

That looks like the plug that covers the flywheel locking pin hole. I think it was blue on my car.

The hole is near the starter on the engine side of the bell housing.

The water leak is probably the heater valve manifold or one of its hoses. I could also be the hose or fitting where coolant comes out the back of the head.
