Fuel Pressure specs?
Hi,
Could someone please tell me the expected fuel pressure range and any tips while checking this. I suspect my FPR is out... Oh, I drive a '89 320i Touring.(M20b20) Thanks in advance. M |

I wasn't able to find the specs for a 320i. But a 325i e30 the same year is 43 to 45 psi.
If your 320i has motronic 1.1 fuel injection system I would think it would be the same but I can't say for sure. A 325i with the first generation motronic should be 36 to 37 psi. This is the expected pressure at the fuel injector rail, with the engine off and the pump energized (jumpered at the relay). You may have to put a tee in the fuel line on the outlet side of the rail if there is no tap on the rail for a gauge.(just make sure you test on the downstream side of the fuel pressure regulator). Hope this helps.

According to Chilton's, all 6 cylinder engines except M50 and S50, should get 29.6 oz. in 30 seconds delivery, and 42.6 to 44.4 psi. pressure, and should not drop more than 7 psi in 20 min. after the pump is turned off.
( pressure and delivery tests must be performed individualy).
