Angry 92' 325i Oxygen Sensor

Greetings,

I am not able to remove teh old O2 sensor from my 92' 325i - Is there a trick to this?? I even bought this special socket for O2 sensor is this socket is too long and it's getting caught, therefore I can't fit on the O2 sensor.

Please help!!

Thanks,

Jat

Try soaking it with WD40 or Liquid Wrench for a few hours, that should help.

your '92 should be like my '94.
to change the o2 sensor you need the special short-about 1.5 inch- tool with the crowsfoot design. the longer than 3 inch universal tool is far too long.
autozone will lend the toolkit with a deposit from you. kit has 2 of these shorter tools, strangely only 1 of the apparently correct size tools would work for me but 1 was enough.
it helps to have a swivel head socket wrench also.
you will not be able to torque the new o2 sensor. just don't overtighten.

My '85 325e had the original 02 sensor in it up until last week. There was no way I could get it out laying under the car, even with the right tool My buddy put it up on a lift for me, and the only way he could remove it was by putting a torch on it and using a pipe wrench on it because I already rounded it off. It came out but the threads on the exhaust fitting were pretty much gone. He had to use a die to fix the threads in the exhaust fitting.
I hope yours goes easier than this! Funny thing is, my car was running fine before I changed the 02 sensor, and I can't say I notice any difference in performance or fuel efficiency.

Thanks god mine came out without damaging - The trick was the tool from Autozone, which was recommended by the other person did the job.

My car was surging a little when the old O2 sensor once the car warmed up, but never cold. Now, with the new O2 sensor, the car surges a little when cold, but dissapear once it's warmed up.

So, I went and got some new NGK's plugs and replaced those as well, and yes, it needed it.

I even disconnect the battery to the car thinking that would reset the computer, but that didn't help either.

What do you need to do after you replace the O2 sensor?? Any other tricks for this?? Oh, I forgot to mention, my Check Engine light came on and stay on before I replaced the O2 sensor.

I need to find a shop or someone has the scan code reader and pull the codes off for me.

Any ideas??

Thanks much!!

i'm glad that info helped.
also, corrected codes should reset after a certain of starts.
your obd 1 will give you any current codes by pressing the gas petal to floor and reading flashes on gauge.
details can be gotten from searching. i have not done, so don't know details off the top of my head.
