BMW Roundel e36 coupe gm box

first of Alil brilliant site lots of help
iv e36 coupe 320 1994 auto
iv had bit trouble tranny is totAlily empty fluid iv put in 5lr fluid dexron 3 but still not getting no drive at Ali light on dash saying no fluid/or not enough yet hand book says only takes 3lr
any help would be gratefully appreciated thanks
its gm box with one big sump and two plugs in t
and does anyone know what part magnets play in sump

bit more info iv got car level and on starting it no drive to wheels give wheel kick then turned for while then stopped then wouldn't turn only slowly they turned
then after leaving car a while it done same then stopped any ideas be totally appreciated as cant afford garage so any help at all be grate

The tranny probably takes 8 or 9 liters.

Do you know the tranny model?

its A5S310Z think jatco someone said box with one big sump instead two sumps just cant seem get enough in

sorry keyboard knackered

You have to fill it with the engine running and after running it through the gears. Then fill it up until it dribbles out before the tranny gets too hot, which isnt difficult.
