Project 41 - Shift Bushings
Quick question to see if the symptoms I describe lead me to (what I believe) replacement of my shift bushings. My diagnostic skills are still in development so I appreciate any help from you veterans out there!
Car: 1989 325is, 5 speed manual transmission. All stock. The transmission is strong, no "popping" out of gear or anything and shifts relatively well, I don't think there are any real transmission problems. When the car is in any gear, there is a tremendous amount of play in the shifter lever... much more than I am accustomed to. Would replacement of the shift bushings tighten this up, or is there something else that I haven't considered? Thanks is advance!

Shift bushings are very likely.
