Oil Filter Housing Gasket/Seal

Hello -

Has anyone here replaced their Oil Filter Housing gasket/seal before? If yes, how extensive is it to do one of these?? Mine is leaking now and I would like to take care of it sooner rather later.

My car is the 1992 325i e36 w/M50 motor.

Thank you in advance.

J

Hey,

I was trying to find you a write-up I ran into before but I couldn't find it. From my understanding, it's pretty easy, but you need to make sure you have everything you need. I thing there's more involved than the gasket. I believe there's a banjo fitting for the oil pressure switch involved in the replacement that needs to be removed, and you're going to need new crush washers for that.

Soon as I find that DIY I'll get it to you.

Hey,

This is the TIS from BMW for the M52, but from my understanding they are very similar in this area. Let me know if this isn't helpful.

Here's the link:

It was very easy. I used a writeup on a 5-series when I did mine. You could just use a basic BMW repair manual.

A writeup isn't necessary it is all very straight-forward. The most important information to lookup is the torque values.
