E36 Window Regulator Issues.

I am having some issues with my 1997 M3's (2-door) power window. I recently put in a new regulator and now the window moves by hand (I can move it up and down a few inches at both sides) and will go to far up and contact the roof when the door is closed? Also sometimes pops when going up or down, and will stop once all the way up and go down an inch and stay??? Anything I should be looking for, the new regulator went back in the same as the old one came out. Any help will be appreciated. Kurt.

Sounds like you're missing some teeth in the electric motor or on the regulator track. I have the same problem on my 93 325is.... I can pull the window fully up by hand because it's missing teeth on the electric motor. They're plastic, so after a while they'll wear down and get brittle and break.

Everything looked good when I replaced the Regulator? I am wondering if this would occur if I didn't get the clip on (Properly) over the pin which holds the window to the regulator where the plastic slides attach? Any ideas to arm myself with when I have to open up the door again. Thanks, Kurt.
