Body Panels and Rust Questions

Gents,

Attached is a picture of my bottom front fender with rust. Both of my front fenders are rusty and the bottom fell off, but the remainder of the fender is in perfect condition. Is there any replacement piece that I can purchase to repair this or do you have to buy the entire fender for it??

Any suggestions would greatly appreciate it.

Jay

Jay,
I'm sure the fender is one piece, and would only be available as such. The quarter panel may be available used, but may not be practical.

I am curious, how did this happen? I live in Florida, (rust central). and have never seen rust to this extent on a BMW.

Snow salt maybe?

The car spent most of his life in NJ and only been in Minnesota in the last 3 years or so. Last year is the only year the car saw the most salt. If I replaced it with new fenders, I would have to paint the entire car, which is not very cheap if you want a decent paint job. So, I will hunt down some while front fenders and see if I get lucky.

Thanks,

J
