Leak Down Test Questions

I want to perform a leak down test on an S52 engine purchased from a salvage yard. I have purchased the OTC tester which appears to be a high quality unit. It has two 0-100 psi gauges with a restricted orifice between them. My question is this:

The engine is on a stand. I have no way to warm it up. It is also empty of fluids. Can this test yield meaningful results on a cold engine? Should I fill it with oil and attach a starter motor to spin it and circulate oil through the galleys, bearings, and lifters before running the test? It seems logical to do this but I could not find any online reference to shed light on my questions.
