Hi Wayne,
Thanks for the detail information on Automatic Transmission Fluid Replacement. i have 1994 BMW 325IS and i am having similar issue with the transmission for past few days. Earlier i was suspecting it could be problem with the transmission, but after reading your article I am relieved that its not a major issue and only pan needs replacement.

I don't have the required parts and tools to do it on own, can you suggest any good mechanic or shop where I should get this done.

I tried Jiffy Lube, but they don't do transmission service for BMWother cars they do.. my zip code is 08820.

thanks in advance.

Sid

Hi there Sid. Sorry, I don't have any specific recommendations for shops in your area, but I will copy your question to the forums, and perhaps someone there will be able to assist you.

I suggest that you go to Car Talk website and check the Mechanics Files. You will find recommended mechanics by area.

I would not suggest Jiffy lube for anything. I'm sure that each one is different, but there are a lot of Jiffy Lube horror stories.

You can do this yourself in one day or one weekend. Buy all your parts on this site and you'll be fine. Just remember, make sure that you can remove the filler bolt first prior draining the transmission fluid.

I flushed the tranny in my 92' 325i over one weekend and I am not even a mechanic. There are plenty of write-ups on how to flush your automatic tranny on the net.

Good luck!!
