What makes the heater fan work. I bought this car and wasnt aware of this happening fan didn't work at all? I can get the resistor for cheap but can't even find the old one in the car.

Without knowing what vehicle you have I can't be much help. I can tell you, most BMWs have the blower resistor on the passenger side in the heater housing.
