Just done a cooling system overhaul on my E36,everything bar the radiator,filled the system as per instruction but still overheating,noticed that thermo fan not comming in when temp is reached,is this the norm

The electric cooling fan should come on when the engine it hot. I would check for air trapped in the system. Try bleeding it again.
