when I put it in drive it takes about 5-8 seconds before it will actually engage?

Anyone know or had this problem? I have a 04 330ci e46 3.0 2dr
It's done it for a year and I'm used to it now, but when I put it in drive it takes about 5-8 seconds before it will actually engage and drive forward? It shifts very smooth so I don't think it is the transmission? Should I just leave it? After I've drove it, it's fine and engages straight away,

Try flushing the fluid and changing the filter. Sounds like the transmission is draining back into the pan and it is not supposed to. Also you may have a bad 1-2 shift solenoid? Any codes?
