1998 318i, brake lights not working. tester shows power to contacts and harness but no lights including third-pastel shelf- light. Any ideas?

The brake light signal goes through the check control module. Check the input from the brake light switch at pin 9 and the output at pins 8 and 14. If it is going in and not out, you will need a check control module.
