Need some advice on how to remove a valve cover gasket that is stuck on the valve cover. My 1997 BMW 328i overheated coolant expansion tank leaked from failed level sensor. The gasket is no longer pliable and is instead brittle and stuck. I can break off some pieces, but most of it is stuck onto the valve cover. Short of replacing the valve cover, I was thinking of locally heating the gasket/cover area with a heat gun to see if that would loosen the stuck baked-on gasket. Thank you in advance for any advice you may have.

Only option is to us a small pick and break the pieces out, other than replace the valve cover. Which if overheated, it may be warped anyway.
