Question on BMW 3-Series E36 O2_Sensor

Question on Replacing the thermostat on my 2004 525i m54, do I need to remove the Electric Fan to remove and replace the Thermostat? My car has the Electric Fan not the Clutch Fan. Also do you happen to know whats the torque specification when placing the new thermostat assembly?
