Oil service indicator
Today I drained the excess oil, but still the oilservice indicator lamp is present. Should I use any reset tool to reset the lamp. In normal condition if the indicator comes on is ti necessary to reset it after changing the oil. The lamp came on only after I changed the oil.

I would go ahead and use the reset tool at first. See what happens. Does the light still stay on? Most likely this might be a pretty common problem.
The service indicator lights on these cars can do some pretty crazy things. It was never a really good design. There are two NiCad batteries behind the dash that tend to go out pretty much all the time. They have a tendency to cause all sorts of glitches from the service lights suddenly popping on, or the gauges simply stop working. What I would do is take the gauge cluster out, remove the back cover, pull out the service indicator board, it's the one on the bottom. Once you get the board out, you'll see two AA size NiCad batteries soldered to the board. Here is most likely the problem. Simply un-solder the old batteries, and install new, re-chargable batteries. This will most likely solve the problem. |

Yes, you need to reset the lamp - simply changing the oil will not turn the lamp out.
