I have a 1998 328is and am trying to remove the intake manifold. I have everything undone except the fuel injectors and the fuel rail.
so the manifold is still held down by the fuel rail's two hoses in the back of the manifold see picture and one hose/sensor underneath the manifold between cylinder 1 & 2. it attaches to the front fuel rail bracket. do I just take off the entire fuel rail or how do I get the hoses off so I can take off the intake manifold? im in the midst of a head gasket replacement. thanks! ![]() __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: |

The fuel rail will come out with the manifold. No need to remove it. The intake may be bolted to a support bracket underneath.

you're right
Yes it is bolted to a support bracket that rests right underneath the manifolds large intake (the throttle body intake hole). i cant see the bolts for disconnecting it. do you if they are on the side somewhere or beneath the bracket?
in the picture im talking about #10 and #19. Theres also a thing black disk (slightly thin and larger than a hockey puck) sitting underneath the intake manifold near the throttle body hole in the manifold and Its somehow attached to the manifold too... possibly by the same bracket, I'm just not sure what it is right now. ![]() |
