1987 325 - While replacing my crankshaft and intermediate shaft seal encountered two issues.
1-Could not use gasket between front cover and oil pan...the thickness caused the cover to be to high in order to get it on the guide pins...so, any problems with just using RTV Ultra Black between pan and front cover? 2-While tightening the three bolts that hold the pan to the front cover, sheared one of the end bolts. Any recommendations on how to get this out. Hard to come at it straight due to the oil pan interference. I'm assuming it's a big risk to leave it as is?? Thank you for the great articles and help! __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: |

The broken bolt will have to be drilled, then extracted using a broken bolt extractor.
Check if there is gasket left behind preventing the old one from lining up. I don't see a reason it wouldn't fit. - Nick |
