I have a 93 318i. I recently went out to my car to start it and it was dead. There was absolutly no power. No lights or anything. I then opened my hood and shut it. The car then started with no problem. What could cause this? The alternator has already been replaced and ther is a sem- new battery. I have recently been opening my hood a lot to fix the latch. Could I have knocked something loose inside the computer? Input is greatly appreciated.

Water inside the DME, possibly? Has it rained lately there?

Sounds like a loose ground cable. I'd reccomend checking your battey cables, cleaning the posts and re-tighten the battery cables.
