Recall Questions on 94 325IC
I noticed from looking at alldata.com that my 325IC has had numerous recalls. Can I call the dealer and have them run the VIN to see if all of these have been done? I think my wife called the dealer a few months ago and they said that there have been no recalls on the car. From looking at the data there has. I want to get the work done!.. How do you suggest I approach this.

Most dealers are clueless, and could care less about recalls. I'm not sure if BMW keeps track of the recalls that have been done by VIN - they usually leave that up to the owner. Are you the original owner, or did you purchase the car from someone else?

Yes,
you can call the dealer to check and see. If a recall was issued for your car, I think that by law they have to correct the issues at their expense. They should be able to check if they have been corrected or not. BMW usually has something like where they put a sticker or a decal on the inside door panel, indicating that recall procedures were carried out. I don't know what they did for this, but if you call your local dealer, just ask for the senior service technician, and he should be able to give you the info. Kinda OT, but When I had my Porsche 914, I noticed that there was a factory recall for some of the fuel lines. I took my car down to the dealer and even though the car was nearly 30 years old, they replaced the parts, and I didnt get charged a thing. |

Thanks,
If you want I can email you my VIN. Possibly he could run it for me and give me a real picture of what actually has been done! Jeff |

I can do that. Give me the VIN and I'll see what he says. Our BMW service guy is really good.
