I upgraded to the 18 button BC on mt 96 318i. Both the white and black plug were present in the car already. I used a BMW GT1 to retrofit the new BC. All functions work work except the check control. All I get is, +several squares-, when the check button is pushed. Is there possibly some more function programming needed to select which systems are to be monitored ? For example, my car does not have a coolant level sensor so you wouldn't want to monitor that anyways.

Not sure. I have seen the screen display that when faulty or with coding faults.
