Hi, my transmission and valve body were recently overhauled due to a hard downshift from 2-1. Transmission runs now like new. I recently noticed a very small drop of red transmission fluid that develops after a week with the car parked. I decided to park the car for another week in order to se where de drop is coming from. I found that two bolts from the transmission pan had the drop on it. What could the source of the leak be and is it safe to drive in this conditions until I find the solution? Transmission is a ZF 5HP18 A5S310Z. Attached is a picture I took from underneath the car.
I would really appreciate your help! ![]() __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: BMW E36 3-Series Automatic Transmission Fluid Change (1992 - 1999) | Pelican Parts DIY Maintenance Article |

The leak could be the pan gasket or electronics above it. Check if there is an electrical connector above the leak. If so, the sealing O-ring could be leaking.
