Stock Air Intake and Exaust

I just had Dinan mods performed on my 98 M3, I kept all of the old parts that they would allow me to keep, the stock air intake and exaust muffler. Can anyone tell me if these will fit any E36 engine so that I can unload on eBay?

As for the airbox itself, it will fit other 6 cylinder models, however it wont fit the 318 or ti models. In some E36 M3's they also have an additional snorkel that routes mor air into the airbox. Sort of BMW's version of a cold air intake. Does yours have the additional snorkel?

Im pretty sure that the exhaust will only fit the M3. I looked in the ETK software and it shows a specific exahust for the M3 that is different from the other E36 models.

If it were me, I'd probably keep the parts on hand, if you are ever thinking of selling the car.

On another note, have you put the Dinan chip in? With the intake and exahust, you should feel a noticable increase of performance by adding the chip. My car has a Dinan free flow exhaust. I put the stock chip back in to compare the difference. With the stock ship, I noticed that the car had less throttle response and seemed a little hesistant. With the Dinan chip back in, the response was greatly improved and the car gets about 4 MPG's more. Of course i have to run premium, so it kinda cancels that one out.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I have the Dinan chip (stage 4) with the high flow throttle body, high flow air meter and cold air intake. The free flow exhaust sounds great, but I have not pulled the new chip to see the difference. I just got the car upgrades on monday, still trying to wipe the smile from my face.

Yup, the M3 exhaust is pretty specific, however, I think that you can hookup the M3 exhaust to the 325 cylinder heads if you take everything off that is connected from the heads to the tailpipe...

The exhaust should fit most standard 96-98 3 series with minimal effort.

My friend is running a 95 M3 exhaust on his 92 325is

I seem to remember reading something about how the BMW engineers enlarged the exhaust ports on the later 3.2 motor for better scavenging, so I wonder if it will fit.

I imagine that it wouldnt be all that hard to modify the exhaust to work, however I cant seem to find any info to confirm this other than the ETK software, and it tells me that only one exhaust was used on the M3, and none of the other cars used it.
