did you check the idle contact in the throttle position switch?
same switch as used on the NA.
the later model cars have a higher "injectors back on" RPM on drop-throttle, something like 1600. in a properly working car you can watch the tach as the engine "catches itself from falling", much smoother than the 82-85/1 models.
