Angry Valvetrain noise question

Is there any reason why an SC would have noisy valves, even when the clearances are correctly adjusted? I am asking because I’ve set my valves twice now, thinking they were loose because of how noisy they are, and now have just had my mechanic go over them once more yet they are still noisier than I would like. They sound good when cold but once the engines warmed up they seem very loud- positively nosier than most SC’s I’ve heard. Some seem noisier than others- ie. The passenger side intake valves are louder than the driver’s side.

The culprit shouldn’t be the valve guides because they were all replaced about 40 000 miles ago & my car doesn’t consume a lot of oil- possibly 1/3 quart in 1000 miles. I’m thinking about other components like rockers & adjusting screws- do these ever wear significantly? I bought a couple of adjuster screws/ elephant’s feet to look at the things & even brand new they have noticeable play in the ball & socket at the base of the screw. Is it even possible to replace these with the engine in the car?

The car runs very well- the valve noise at idle just annoys me a lot especially when I know the valve clearances are correct. Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks.
