Actually, I believe the OEM plugs were metal & were staked in place to keep torsion bars from working out. You can see the stake marks around the perimeter of the recess in the photo of the first post.
Perhaps you could measure the diameter of the recess & then buy freeze plugs from your local auto parts store.
I did not bother with caps or plugs on my car.
