Yep.
I pretty much have the same rule. Actually, mine goes much further.
At work, unless I know a person very well, I only speak about work matters. I only ask superficial personal questions. I never talk about anything that could remotely be construed as sexual. This goes for men and women both. You never know who could overhear something. I've had people (men and women, both) try to get revenge on me because I wasn't interested in their advances (I've been with my wife 20 years and in my current job for 18.)
Outside of work, I do not initiate conversations with women unless I already know them very well. Period. If a woman that I don't know very well initiates a conversation with me, I am polite but I keep it short. It's not uncommon for me to go to the gym and only say hello to the person at the front desk and ask someone if they are done with a piece of equipment. It's too easy for an innocent comment to be interpreted as "hitting on someone".
I can count on zero hands the number of times I've been in a one-on-one situation with a woman who is not my wife since I've been married.
