Locally, when a bear continually stalks humans they usually kill it. Sometimes relocation is tried but if the bear works his way back....
Maybe that's a suitable analogy, maybe not, but some animals are no good. Same with humans, of course. My point is that if there was an unstable animal living that close to me, I wouldn't be sad if it was gone by whatever means. Killing is low on the list, but it's still an option.
