Combination of issues, the final straw being that the local dealer decided to close a tool or something on the e92 leaving a nice dent under the hood and cracking the paint and refused to own up to it or fix it. The brand just doesn't have the customer service it used to.

It also has had $20k in work in the last year, a big chunk of which I don't believe was needed because they didn't diagnose it right (replaced the transmission for $16k and the errors came back within a couple months). A new battery and ground cable w/meter in it seemed to solve a lot of that, for merely another $1k, because of having to code the battery, etc. Oh, I also bought this one specifically because it had a replacement motor under warranty already...

Once I have time to get the hood fixed (my insurance is also being a pita), and the throttle actuator replaced (rebuilt it but it still acts up), it's going to the consignment dealer. It's probably going to be an excellent car for somebody now that I've been through the pain and every known weak point has been fixed.

The e46 has been a great car, I've had it 12+ years, and the worst thing was the subframe. It's currently at the consignment shop to get the interior touched up and sold. I originally was going to replace it with the e92, but had to keep it because the e92 needed so much sorting.
