Indy cars and F1 cars are similar only because they have four exposed tires .......... that's about it . The comparison is apples and oranges and that's OK as they are two different series with different mind sets of what their series/racing is about . Yes F1 is the pinnacle of racing and technology but most of us can agree the " racing ' sucks . F1 is more about how you qualify vs. how you race . Indy car on the other hand generally is good racing . There are many races where the pole sitter does not win , it is no guarantee you will win just because you grabbed the pole . Pit stops and fuel strategy are still a part of Indy car as it should be in all series in my opinion .
I watch both series but I can honestly say I enjoy Indy car more just because of the competitive racing . Whether it is an oval/road course/street course there is a lot of passing and that's what the fans want to see . Sure it's great when your favorite driver or team wins but most fans want to see the series/drivers championships go down to the last few races of the season . And I'm pretty sure the sponsors putting up the $$$ to support feel the same way . I am a fan of Rossi and will be pulling for the NAPA sponsored car today but I'm sure whoever wins I will have enjoyed the race .
