Mike -- I have standard hydraulic hood struts, but always gently pull my hood down -- latch stops it around an inch or so above closing and final step is pushing on the hood ornament to engage the latch -- Is this what you ran into with the rennlines? Have you traditionally let yours close on its own (e.g. let it drop from a foot or so up)? May be a technique issue?
