As I understand it, the JC chip remaps the entire power curve even at part throttle. The Dinan comes in at full throttle opening therefore part throttle operation is stock. This is what I had read awhile back. I went with the JC (from Turner Motorsport) chip in my '89 325i and am very satisfied. Jim Conforti is regarded as the best guru around when it comes to BMW engine management. As for swapping between cars you have to be careful. When you order a chip they ask you for your ECU number. There are several different ECU numbers (9 for i engines, 2 for e engines, 1 for the newer 318 and 3 for the M3) and different Motronics (1.0, 1.1, 1.3, 1.7) depending on the year and whether you have an e or an i engine. When you order a chip ask about interchangeability. They should be able to give you the best answer without destroying an ECU. The Bavarian Autosport chip is from a Florida company that I have heard mixed reviews of. It is not a rebadged JC chip.
