PITA hose clamps

Had to change a hose from the coolant reservoir to the engine this weekend. The clamps used by Ford are the spring type, that are glued to the hose and released when installed at time of manufacturing.

The new hose doesn’t come with the clamp.

So, it’s easy to get various pliers on it, but you can’t squeeze it enough to get the hose past the raised part of the tube. From the picture, you can see how it’s in the “closed” position.

Maybe there is are special pliers I can get next time to squeeze the clamp to its original locked open position.

Or, it’s just a friggen Ford and use a screw type clamp.
