I bought an 08 xt new and still have it. Great bike. I don't ride it much any more but when I do I always remind myself to never sell it, while laughing at what a hoot it is.

Aside from normal maintenance which is really oil, filter, and lube changes, the only issue I've had was mystery ignition problems caused by a cracked ecu connector. The plastic seat pan flexes which puts the riders weight on the connector. An EBR Race ECU relocated out of harms way solved the problem.

The only other problem is the rear wheel bearing can go and there is an update for that. I'm not a big guy and don't ride through water so I just keep an eye on it..

Its really a different bike than just about anything out there. It vibrates like hell below 3k rpm, signs off at 6k and revs willingly, but still loads of torque. It feels extremely light, handles great, and has an all day seat plus luggage.
